How I made my six films

No production company, no grants, and shooting at weekends.

In these 34 minutes I tell you, film by film, how each one got made: where the

idea came from, what went wrong and what I'd do differently. It isn't a theory class. It's what really happened.

tablas», so when I say five, it's now six

What's inside:

– My first short film, shot at home with a borrowed camera and no tripod. And what I said to

the woman who is now my wife when I found her crying in the kitchen halfway through the shoot.

– El perro naranja — my first feature. I deliberately set out to find the most incorrect way

possible to open a film. That cost me a sale to an American TV channel.

– And what happened next with the sales agent who did sell it.

– Nueve bares — nine storylines in one film, when four is already more than risky. One

story for each bar in my city.

– Mirando al mar — the switch to drama, with a lead actress of almost ninety whom I met

at a premiere. I filled the poster with laurels and had to stop sending it to festivals.

– 12 months, 12 shorts — what I did when the pandemic stopped my fourth feature.

– Los días de la noche y Bruno, the riskiest project I've ever taken on.

And what if you want to make yours?

Everything I learned making these films is broken down in my courses. Not theory: the

real decisions, sequence by sequence.
